It has been my way of taking notes during meetings as well. You have to find out when you can ask questions during a meeting and when it is not important that they explain terms to you. I used to just write down what I didn't understand, try to figure out what it was on my own, and finally if I couldn't, ask them.
It is a great way to learn and also a good technique to quickly get a better co-worker.
