I’ve used video call tools professionally for a while and I remember the day I had a call with someone we worked with from Pixar. They used zoom and when I tried it I felt like all these years of straight up crap video , yes, I’m looking at you Skype… disappeared in one meeting.

I think that is the main reason people use zoom now. It works and it is not crap. A lot of people are clueless about security or does not give a damn. This is the main problem we have. Our generation (I’m 38) is doomed. It is too late to save a generation who allows Facebook pixel and other horrible tracking tools to exist, but we need to teach security and privacy at school. I’m talking 10-year-old kids here.

If the security and privacy issues discussed here (especially the facwbook part) is true, I think my zoom days are over. I would rather pay for a worse experience (or pay for zoom if that kills tracking and privacy bs) than support a well working software which doesn’t care about user’s privacy and security :/
